Why locals love it

Located deep in the heart of Toronto is a system of many nature trails. The Lower Don River Trail can be accessed from Beechwood Drive in East York. This trail extends south to Lakeshore Boulevard and north to beyond Eglinton Avenue. The multi-use trail is for walkers, joggers and cyclists, and the trail is smoothly paved in most areas.

Why you should visit it

Numerous information posters tell you the history and the vegetation of this area. It is a peaceful and relaxing place to visit either in summer or winter. Due to the number of trees in the valley, it can be cooler here in the summer than on the streets of the city.

Special tip

Make sure to walk the Crothers Woods loop—there is a great vantage point at the half-way mark!

I love to hike and this is a great spot right in the city to do that. It’s also a great spot for mountain biking. I’d consider the trails adv beg/low int. Hills, narrow, and can do a short hike/cycle or long.
