Parking apps
(18 answers)Hi all,
I'm coming to Toronto from the UK in March and will be spending 3 days exploring round Lake Ontario towards Niagara. I was just wondering if there are any good apps where I can pay for on street parking? I'm just concerned I may not have enough change so being able to pay for parking via my phone would be really helpful. We have an app called Ringo here that uses GPS to work out where you're parked and you just enter your plate number and how long you want to park for.

Most popular in Toronto is "green P" app. But different lots might be using different apps. I usually download then and delete them as necessary. Most meters also take credit cards. Are you in the know about the Revolut credit card? It has no charges no matter what country or currency U use it in. I cannot live without mine when I travel.
Hi Adam, in Toronto we have Green P machines on most major streets that you can use to pay for parking. Each machine has a location number that you enter into the app so you can pay with a credit card. However, you need to load the app with at least $20 in order to use it.
These same machines do accept credit cards on site as well as change so you may not need the ap. https://parking.greenp.com/
Also, look for free parking on side/residential streets. Just look for the clearly posted signs to be sure you’re allowed to park during the hours and for how long.
Hope this has helped!

I exclusively use the app for "Green P" parking (municipal parking lots).

In Toronto, street parking is managed by the City. This is "Green P Parking"

Hi Adam
The best app for the Toronto area is GreenP
Which will let you top up until a specific time. Toronto has enforced a new law during rush hour that will tow your car and move it to a side street. So make note of the signs.
If you are planning on spending a full day in toronto, you should park in a parking lot and walk or subway/ streetcar around. Get a day pass or presto card. Much easier. It’s a pedestrian City.
Outside of the city, say Niagara Falls will not use the Green P but you can pay majority of the meters with a major credit card.

Green P parking is your best bet for Toronto. it’s municipally owned, well maintained lot parking and street parking, and has the lowest rates you’ll find. The app is great as you can reload remotely if running short on time. https://parking.greenp.com/
There are several parking apps in the GTA but every pay stand will tell you the app you need to download if there is one.
For Toronto I have downloaded and use most frequently one called the "GreenP" app.

For Toronto, download the Green P app. That app covers Green P parking lots and also street metres in Toronto. I don’t know of any parking apps for outside of Toronto.
Hope that helps.

Hi;
There is really only one to use "Green P". It covers city controlled parking lots and on-street parking. Available for Android and iOs. It has feature which enables you to top up your payment from wherever you are.

As others said GreenP is good but often expensive if you want to pay from your phone. I almost never use GreenP. BestParking is the best app ever for finding lots and often you end up paying by credit card or sometimes coin. Try it - it’s never failed to find me really cheap lots based on my time and date windows!
BestParking has never failed me ! Love it! If you’re asking for lots that you can pay for from your phone then try the city’s default, GreenP - though they’re not as thrifty as if you were to find another private lot. Good luck!
In the City of Toronto the app is Green P parking. In Niagara it is a different app, I believe it's called Honk
