Pansio's Air Beacon
Why locals love it
The Pansio's Air Beacon was built in 1932. Before the wars, airplanes needed these landmarks for navigation. In the 1930s, there were plans to make a chain of air beacon structures from Helsinki to Stockholm, but the project was never completed. The lifespan of the air beacons was very short, as early as the 40s, technology replaced them.
In addition to Pansio's Beacon there are only 2 other left in Finland: in Iniö, Parainen and in Kumlinge, Åland.
