The establishment of the Biological Museum began with donations in 1902. The donor was revealed as the Swedish Deputy Consul Alfred Jacobsson, and his wife Hélène. Gustaf Kolthoff himself caught and stuffed the animals placed in the show with his son Kjell Kolthoff. Kjell Kolthoff also painted the fabric backgrounds of the oil-colored dioramas.
