Why locals love it
This is the place from where Uzhhorod began its existence over 1000 years ago. The castle Ung gave the name to the city. Firstly wooden, it was rebuilt many times, and now the oldest parts could be found at the basement in the cellar. The castle is situated in a quiet part of the city, its walls remind romantic time of knights.
Why you should visit it
One of the oldest buildings of the city looks as a fortress from the street, but when you get inside, you'll see a palace with a park around it. The museum with a rich collection of old printed books, weapons, authentic clothes and musical instruments is situated inside the castle. Probably you'll be lucky and meet famous local ghost White Diva.

Castle bastion is a good place to enjoy the city panorama.
