This is the second oldest museum in Chile starting in 1878 with only two rooms at the public highschool. Since 1988 the museum is located in the Lyon Palace, a beautiful building constructed in 1881. It was recently remodeled with new tecnologies and more interactive, specially for kids.
The building is a beautiful example from the XIX century victorian architecture with a french neoclassic style for the interior with more than fifty rooms in three levels with baroque ornaments and european glass for the windows. The collections include local history, Flora and Fauna, archaeology and ethnographic.
