English Bay Beach
Why locals love it
English Bay is rumoured to be one of the most "body beautiful" beaches in the world, but, for the average Vancouverite, it's just "the beach you can go to without leaving downtown." Most importantly, just beside the beach are some laughing man statues. They are beloved by tourists, and intoxicated Vancouverites alike.
Why you should visit it
Nobody who lives in Vancouver, or who visits Vancouver, can leave without getting a picture with the Laughing Men (yes, you CAN and SHOULD climb them). The beach itself isn't remarkable compared to other Vancouver beaches (aside from the fact that it is easy to get to)... and, there are palm trees. In Canada.
Special tip
The line up at the Starbucks by this beach is unacceptable. If you need a coffee, pick one up before you go to the beach.
