Why locals love it
The Reifel Bird Sanctuary offers sheltered, walking trails in the delta of the Fraser River where thousands of migratory birds stop. There are also many resident birds that may be found year round. It is great location to get back to nature.

Why you should visit it
Located about a 1-hour drive from downtown Vancouver (off peak times) this is an oasis of nature. There are tree-lined trails with benches where you can bird watch or feed the ducks. The outer trail opens up as it follows the Salish Sea. A watchtower offers great views. You may see a Sand HIll Crane or Bald Eagle.
Special tip
You can bike from the Ladner Bus Exchange in about 30 minutes. Many Translink buses have bike racks.
