Why locals love it

People come from all over the city to this quiet East Vancouver restaurant. One of a kind, and not a chain. Food is delicious. Menu is simple but not overwhelming. What they do is very good and quite French! Service is also very good and gives you a feeling of being in France.

Why you should visit it

Unique experience and ambience. One-of-a-kind restaurant that serves great good at a decent price.

Special tip

If you like steak, either of their options are delicious!

Tonight was the 3rd time we've visited your restaurant, and although our first two visits were lovely, this was really disappointing. The special was lamb shank, and I asked the waiter what he would recommend between the lamb shank and Le Steak Frites. He said definitely the steak, as it's their signature dish. I ordered it medium, and it comes already sliced up, and it was obviously rare. Not even close to medium. The chef should have seen this before it went out. No big deal - I sent it back to be cooked a little more. Meanwhile, my wife is eating her dinner. It comes back, looks great, pink but not raw, but is tough. Chewy tough. I tried a few pieces, and it was inedible. I've had their steak before and they are obviously using lesser cuts of meats. It can happen. However, my wife was almost done her dinner and so it didn't make sense to order another meal. When I spoke to the waiter about it obviously being raw, he said it's not about the colour, but the texture. Seriously? Basically, he told me I was wrong. I had to have the cheese plate for dessert because I was still hungry. The final bill came to over $200 - I had two after-dinner drinks, and the only thing he did was comp my wife's lemon tart, an $8 item. Seriously? If anything, it should have been one of my food items, not hers. I have a three strike rule and they hit it plus one - badly cooked food, poor quality meat, confrontational service, and a lack of reasonable compensation. This place used to be great.. it's obviously changed. It's not the same. The people beside us felt the same as well. So, there are lots of other places where your food dollar will go a lot further. I had two double Calvados drinks after dinner - for $19.50 each. A full bottle of Calvados sells at BC Liquor stores for $28.99. The minimum comp should have been her tart and one of my drinks. Because of their bad cooking and poor quality meat, I didn't actually get to eat dinner with my wife, which was the whole point of coming out tonight. We have kids, and rarely get out. And, I'm an internet professional. So, they could have done the right thing and shown that they really cared about bad food and bad cooking, or they could have brushed me off, which they did. So, not acceptable, not right, and now they've lost a customer for life. Nice!
