Vantaa's first rhododendron garden is located in Martinlaakso, Kivimäki's park. The purpose of the area is to introduce domestic rhododendron varieties. Kivimäki's park itself was built in the early 1990's. The rhododendron garden area was implemented in 2001 - 2.
Why you should visit it
The Park area is shady, has humid ditches and peat land it is most suitable for alpine roses. Currently, 12 different varieties have been planted in the alpine rose area of Kivimäki's park. The best way to get to the area is to walk along Jaakonkatu, Koivikkotie or Laajavuorentien.
Special tip
Kivimäki's park is at its most beautiful from the end of May to mid- June, when most of the alpine roses are in bloom.
