Why locals love it
Old castle is situated in the very center of Varaždin. It first mentioning was in 12th century. Old castle has had several remodeling done (gothic, renaisance and baroque style), while in 16th century it was remodeled to the design as we have it today. Classic walls and water that used to be around the castle makes the typical "wasserburg".

Why you should visit it
Varaždin's Old castle has been transformed to a museum. My personal favourite is the old armory with beautiful ancient guns and rifles.
Special tip
After a tour through the musem - enjoy a good coffee on a Stančić square right next to the castle and enjoy the view.
