Why locals love it
Not everybody knows that it possible to cross the Canal Grande using a gondola traghetto (it means ferry). The shape of this boat is a bit bigger than the normal gondola and it is also not decorated as a fancy gondola, as the metal part in the front is missing.

Why you should visit it
This is not a proper romantic gondola ride, but more like a funny experience trying not to fall into the canal. It is used by locals as public transport, because there are not many bridges crossing the Canal Grande. The price of € 2 per person has to be paid directly to the gondoliere.
Special tip
There are 7 points where to cross the canal like that, you'll often see yellow signs pointing toward the traghetto.
