Why locals love it
The beach has a wonderful sandy stretch within a sheltered harbour, so the water is reasonably warm July & August. Also set in a nice neighbourhood with lovely restored homes and cottages 50-100 years old. A 5-minute drive/15-minute cycle from downtown.
Why you should visit it
Among Victoria's nicest features are its natural ovean settings and lovely historic neighbourhoods. Willows beach gives you both at once. It is also child- and family-friendly, with a grassy play area behind the beach.
Special tip
Consider cycling or arriving early because parking will be at a premium on warm summer days.
