What sort of a place do you think you are coming to? Why would it not be safe to walk in broad daylight in the centre of a European capital city? What are you expecting to find here?

My sincere apologies if I asked a sensitive question. However, when we visited Paris near the Notre Dame cathedral, one of our travel members was threatened at knife-point and relieved of his wallet; another case was in Rome when someone on a bicycle pretended to knock into a lady traveller from our group, broke her leg and later found out that she had lost her purse. Anyway, I am happy you assured me with your reply. Thank you very much

I am sorry that your group has such bad experiences. I have lived in Vilnius for a long time. The only bad experiences I have heard of for foreigners are for some foreign men who frequent city centre bars, get drunk, and get their wallets stolen. But that can happen anywhere.
Recently I was knocked down by a local cyclist as I walked into a cycle path without looking (my fault) . He called an ambulance for me, spoke perfect English, and called me next day to make sure I was ok, which I was.
I would say that that was more typical. Vilnius is a small friendly town, where it is pleasant to walk around and completely safe, even for women at night.

On the hire car issue, you could just hire a car from the usual international car hire firms who could supply an English speaking driver if you ask. You only really need that for Trakai.

For the Jewish tour it's all a short walk in the Old Town. And to get to the coach station, either use public transport (easy and cheap) or local taxis (astonishingly cheap). Public transport and taxis all have apps on smartphones.

Hi Helene,
Would you recommend we get a taxi parked outside the airport to go to the oldtown? Or do you recommend us booking one through call apps?
How much is the fare approximately?
If we take Bus 88, it cost Euro 1 per person?
Thank you so much
Sure it is :)

Thank you all for your kind replies.
1. By the way, anyone has got a vehicle that sits five (5) of us travellers from an Asian country willing to bring us around Vilnius City and Trakai for sightseeing, especially for photographs and local cuisine on a one-day trip? If yes, how much will you price the trip? Pick up is from old town and return to old town.
2. The following day's morning half, likewise but would like to visit the Jewish historical side of Vilnius; pick up from old town and drop off at the coach station (to Riga).
Thank you all in advance.
Both days in the middle of Dec.
