Day Tour to the Hill of Crosses from Vilnius

Had a great time daytripping to Hill of Crosses with Remy from Vilnius with Locals. Even though I was alone that day (bc apparently other people bailed on the reservation) they did not cancel the trip and abandon me so thumbs up for that! Great trip to the countryside with Lithuanian music along the way and knowledgeable guide. Recommended *****

After walking all of Old Town Vilnius, I decided I needed to go outside the city and found a brochure about the local tours. Communication was done through E-mail and was very quick. The tour itself, we had a small group of six which made the tour that much more personal. We met early and headed out of town. Our guide made sure we had a personal stop after we tour the park of the Freedom Fighter Crosses. This was a nice way to break up the drive which for me was not very long but I guess two hours is a long drive in Europe. I would have liked a little more time at the Hill of Crosses. There were so many and I saw something new or interesting. We then headed into town for lunch. There was some confusion at lunch and not everyone in our group got their meal. Our guide tried to solve the problem so it was no fault of hers. She did go out of her way to show us an extra park and we took a little detour to find something I had hoped to see. The drive back into Vilnius was long and we got back a couple hours later. But it was an enjoyable day. The small group made it fun and our guide was very informative.

I do not believe we could have spent a more informative and relaxing day than the one we spent with Leva K to visit the Hill of Crosses. Leva is a very talented guide and quite knowledgeable. She also shared many other stories of current daily life in Lithuania and we had a lot of fun swapping travel stories. Our lunch of local dishes at the "Windmill" restaurant also added much to the whole experience. It is a long drive, but it is worth the trip particularly when you are is such competent hands. It truly felt like we were just traveling with a group of good friends for the day.
