Description

We will drive a classic communist car, that is, a historic minivan - Nysa 522.

A professional guide will narrate a tour of landmark communist buildings and local history.

You will know the history of the symbol of Warsaw, the Palace of Culture and Science, which was created on the sea of post war ruin. You will see the utopian architectural ideas of the communist authorities - the Party House of People's Republic of Poland and the Ministry of Agriculture. You will go to Plac Konstytucji (Constitution Square) to get to know the MDM (Marszalkowska Residential District) designed to fit the communist ideology. At the end, we will visit the only such place in Warsaw - Museum of Life Under Communism. A replica of a real flat, propaganda films screened in a mini cinema hall, a reconstructed communist cafe await you there.. We will learn how the inhabitants of Warsaw used to live like...

Thanks to our guides (Tomek en Mario), the communist tour was amazing. Learned somthing about the Polish culture, drank some wodka shots and enjoyed the driving style of our two guides. In short the best way to see something else than the standard touristic Warsaw parts!
Fascinating tour!
This was a fascinating tour of Warsaw from the perspective of life in the city during the communist period. Our tour guide was Martin and despite being too young to remember anything from the communist period personally he was very knowledgeable. Martin started the tour by referring back to the Nazi period and explaining how the communists took control of Poland at the end of World War 2. We then visited several locations around the city representing important landmarks from the communist period, including having a light lunch in one of Warsaw's famous "milk" bars -- don't worry, the end of the tour in the Museum Of Communist Life included a shot (or two) of vodka. We really enjoyed this tour and would recommend it to anyone who wants an alternative perspective on Warsaw.
