Our tour guide Gavel gave us an in-depth historical tour of Jewish Warsaw. This was extremely important to my understanding of Warsaw's very recent history. What once was a huge part of culture in Warsaw, the Jewish community, is now very small, and this happened so recently. This tour is crucial to realize what has been nearly eliminated from a city, which may go unnoticed without the tour. Highly recommend it. And Gavel is an extremely nice and intelligent person. Thanks!

Description

Did you know that Warsaw was the biggest Jewish city in Europe? They made up 30% of the city’s population. Jews lived here since the settlement of the city in the medieval period. For more than 600 years they co-created the city and its rich culture. The creator of Esperanto language lived here, Noble Prize lived here as well. We’ll show you the fascinating yet dramatic story of the Jews in Warsaw.

Gawel took my wife on a simply wonderful tour of what was the Jewish Ghetto of Warsaw. He is happy to share his vast knowledge of Warsaw's Jews in the 1940's. The tour is highlighted with historic photos that are essential as very very little of the Ghetto exists. Bikes are the most expedient way to get from spot to spot. He even mentioned a terrific Vietnamese restaurant a stones throw from the place where the tour begins and ends.
The bike tour of Jewish Warsaw was one of the highlights of our trip! The guide was very knowledgeable, knew a lot and found a very good way of telling us. The bikes were good for biking the city, and it was good to have a guide to show us the best bikeable paths and ways through the city. Also, the guide took up our wishes and adapted the tour to our interest. Thanks a lot for this great tour. I highly recommend it to anybody that knows how to ride a bike and travels to Warsaw, whether for the first time or as a repeat visitor.
