Why locals love it

Arlington Cemetery is nearly 650 acres. It was established during the Civil War on the grounds of confederate Robert E Lee's estate. There are many memorials and monuments within the cemetery now. Some include: Tomb of the Unknowns, USS Maine Mast Memorial, Challenger Memorial (space shuttle), Laos Memorial, and Women in Military Service Memorial.

Why you should visit it

Arlington Cemetery is an important American pastoral. Though it is riddled with many historic controversies, it does represent the many changes, losses, and wars the USA has already seen in its very small history. There are many ways to tour the grounds and many famous locales. The graves are sprawled in perfect lines.

Special tip

There are many military rituals that occur throughout the year, so check the schedule for your visit.
