DC has been a center of African-American culture for decades, and U Street, once known as "Black Broadway," has historically been the heart of the community. Although the neighborhood is becoming increasingly gentrified and has become a new destination for nightlife, you can still grab a bite of history at Ben's Chili Bowl.
This historic diner offers classic American favorites such as burgers, hot dogs, and of course, chili. It has been visited by figures such as Duke Ellington, Nat King Cole, Bill Crosby, and more recently, President Obama himself.
Located next to the U Street metro.
