The huge feats Americans experienced while FDR was president are represented through the use of water on the memorial--a single large drop for the economy crash, chaotic falls for WWII, a still pool for his death, and an array of waterfalls for a reflection on his time in office. The are also sculptures depicting the 30s and FDR.
The memorial stone--a stone with a simple inscription: "In memory of FDR"--was one of FDR's last wishes.
