Why locals love it

Kramerbooks & Afterwords Cafe is known by just about everyone in town. Right in the heart of Dupont Circle, Kramerbooks is open 24 hours on the weekends and hosts live music nightly from Wednesday thru Saturday. This is a space for readers and brunchers alike, with a select curation of books in an array of categories.

Why you should visit it

Book lovers will be thrilled with extensive sections in poetry, history, and travel among others. The cafe is a great place to continue your book talk over coffee, brunch, or drinks. Kramerbooks has been a neighborhood staple since the late 70s and it seems it will be a landmark for a long time to come.

Special tip

Kramerbooks gained extra attention in the 90s during the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal when they refused to disclose what books Lewinsky had purchased.

Kramerbooks has a really cool atmoshpere! It's definitely not a typical tourist destination, though still entertaining, and therefore a great way to meet locals!
