From artifacts, to literature, to modern media displays, the National Museum of the American Indian is dedicated to the culture and history of Native Americans, and the art and artifacts that illuminate said narrative. There is a sister museum of its kind in New York city, and a research and collections facility in Maryland as well.
The curvilinear architecture of the building as well as surrounding landscaping and other design features were made in collaboration with Native American tribes across the Western Hemisphere. Open since 2004, this is the first museum dedicated entirely to Native Americans. The building opens to large high-ceiling performance space.
