Why locals love it
Located in Chinatown, the Verizon Center is an easily accessed venue for DC's beloved NBA (Wizards) and NHL (Capitals) teams. Beyond those two sports, the arena hosts other forms of entertainment such as large-scale concerts, ice skating, women's basketball, Georgetown basketball, WWE wrestling matches, and the like.
Why you should visit it
American sports are rites of passage in America's larger cities especially. Unlike its east coast neighbors though (cough cough New York, cough cough Boston...), DC fans are much more amenable--devoted to the core, but not as likely to flip a car over to prove it! Also, unlike many sports arenas, this one is located right in theheart of the city.

If your pockets aren't deep enough for the Wizards or the Capitals, try your luck on a college ball game.
