Escape from the city rush

Botanical Gardens

Why locals love it

A walk through this serene oasis in the very city center, makes a perfect break from the busy everyday life. 120 years old trees are true witnesses of this city's history and development. Just sitting on a bench beside the windy pathways and reading a chapter or two of your favorite book, takes you far away from the stressful day at work.

Why you should visit it

Not only is this a botanical research center, it is also a wonderful example of park architecture, with both asymmetrical landscape and geometrical flower beds. It is also a true open-air museum of plants with collections of species, such as Mediterranean, tropical, even carnivorous plants. And best of all - there is no entrance fee!

Special tip

The 19th century pavilion serves as information center and exhibition area. You can see and sometimes even purchase Croatian endemic plants there.
