This unique collection of musical boxes and other mechanical instruments is pretty unknown, even among the locals. To see it, often means to discover it for the first time. And it's always such a thrill. It's part of the permanent display of Zagreb City Museum and it's one of the biggest collections of its kind.
The collection was donated to the city by it's original owner and restaurateur Ivan Gerersdorfer. It is the most romantic link with 20th century. At the same time, it celebrates the development of automated music reproduction, and the skills and affinities of a strange Zagreber.
Hallway that hides this collection looks as if it leads to offices. It discourages visitors despite the obvious sign "Collections". Follow that sign.
