See the incredibly famous castle of Vlad the Impaler – The prince of Wallachia who inspired Bram Strokers „Dracula“ – the influencial novel that can either blessed for numerous epic horror stories and blamed for „Twilight“. The Bran castle is just a 30-minute bus ride away from Brasov.
Bran – a tiny village mainly focused on selling you numerous T-shirts, kitchen magnets and mugs with vampires – can be reached by getting a bus from Bartolomeu bus station. It’s a bit closer to the city centre then the main bus station. The easiest way to find it is to just take a taxi to „Autogara Bartolomeu“ – the taxis should usually cost less than 12 lei. The bus itself is 6 lei and stops pretty much next to the castle.
The castle is different from the numerous castles all over Romania – this one is filled with tiny stairs going up and down – it’s practically a maze there. The ticket costs 20 lei for adults, 10 for students and it’s worth a go just to say you’ve done it.
The opening hours depend on the day and season. The best way to find correct info is the Bran Castle website: http://www.bran-castle.com/en/information/the_program
