Tour by Rolf

I believe that making tourists feel at home and making them smile is important. As an official tour guide who is born and bred in Amsterdam, I offer my customers a wealth of information on history, art, architecture, and social life. People experience my tours as personal, specialized, fun, and state to have a new friend at the end of the day.

Amsterdam is sometimes referred to as the biggest village in the world as it has a very pleasant and laidback feel. Ever since the famous Canal Ring was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010, the city has become something of an open-air museum. Those of you with a keen eye for history and architecture are guaranteed to love it!

On this tour I’ll show you buildings that are 300, 400 even 500 years old. Besides being great to look at, their stories are incredibly interesting and entertaining.

I follow a personal philosophy of “infotainment” where, instead of boring you to death with just dates and names, I liven up the tour with fun facts and anecdotes. Although I’m a fully licenced National Guide, I have my own personal style of guiding. At the end of the tour I want you to feel as if a friend has shown you around the city.

Please note that each tour may differ slightly, for instance if it’s all guys, we might spend a little bit longer in the Red Light District, whereas if it’s all girls, we can take a little detour to the city’s best shopping area. If you have specific interests or wishes, just contact me and I'll see if I can cater to them.

I just wanted to take a minute to thank Rolf for THE BEST walking tour I have ever had - In Europe or anywhere. I am a 44 year old man and had my 14 year old daughter with me. He was fun, so knowledgeable, understood his audience, and made the journey personal. What a wonderful day! I would recommend Rolf to ANYONE seeking a greater understanding of the city, how and when it was founded, and where to go for fun. We had a blast, and my 14 year old still talks about it. Thank you Rolf!
My husband and I had an amazing time in Amsterdam and it would not have been possible without our guide: kind, wise and great. Not only did he showed us the city, but he truly described every part of it with both information and anecdotes. Our experience was definitely heightened by him.

We spent a day with Rolf on the Polder, Dykes and Windmills Tour. We saw parts of the countryside north of the city that we would not have toured on our own. Rolf is very knowledgeable and made the tour very entertaining. We even had lunch in a beautiful village called Broek in Waterland. We took three different ferries and went up in a windmill in Zaanse Schans. Really a delightful day! Thanks, Rolf!!
for Rolf’s tour (Amsterdam Red Light District Tour)
I had 2 days in Amsterdam and would very much like to see the WHOLE of Amsterdam! There were so many Must Dos and such limited time. Thus, i decided to get myself a guide. I found Rolf on Tripadvisor, and true to the recommendations! Rolf was SUPERD, right from my 1st email. He was very responsive, providing me with many details, suggestions on how to structure my trip. I bombarded him with MANY emails, on the places i want to see etc and he never fails to patiently reply them. After the many emails, he truely feels like a long time friend!!

I finally settled on Red light district tour and a 5hr bike tour into the countryside as seeing the windmills were also one of my must-dos! Rolf picked me up for the RLD tour at my hotel. The tour was not only informative, but he also shared many fun stories on the RLD. On top of the RLD, he also made extra efforts to point out some little hidden "gems" of Amsterdam! Interesting little places, totally hidden from the main streets!.. I am sure MANY will MISS it.. if not for Rolf!!

The next day, i went on a bike tour around Amsterdam and into greater Amsterdam! Of course i got the picture of my windmill! Rolf definitely has a vast knowledge of architecture. Along the bike tour, he never fails to point out not only places of attractions, but also the different interesting architecture of Amsterdam. As a tourist, i find that very informative, and helps me remember places better! Rolf have that personal touch, easy going, always having a story in place. There was not one awkward silence given there were just him and me on the trip! In fact, as some reviews said, Rolf feels more like a long time buddy than a tour guide!

For anyone who wants to see Amsterdam, Rolf definitely the one!!! To me, the tour was beyond expectations. I wanted to see Amsterdam, he showed me the REAL Amsterdam and on top of that, i felt he also gave me a glimpse of the culture, history and even the lifestyle of the Dutch. Kudos to Rolf!
