The Van Gogh Museum is unique as it gives visitors the opportunity to dive into the complex mind of a painter during a period of great change. By observing works created at different points in his nine-year career – in Holland, Paris, Arles and Saint Remi – we can see the dramatic evolution of an artist trying to understand himself and the world. The only advantage of selling just one painting in his entire career is his legacy: an astonishing collection of 200 works that enable us to meet the most puzzling painter of the 17th century.
We’ll have two hours to see the entire collection, mostly in small groups. There will be time for questions and, as the artist still remains a mystery, discussion. More than just a tour centred on a single artist, this tour explores what it means to be an artist and how artists perceive the world around them.
