Acropolis for Families Tour

Our guide was an invaluable part of our experience at the Acropolis. If it wasn’t for her, I would have been looking at a bunch of old white pillars that meant nothing to me. There was little to no signage to explain what you’re looking at. Marilena brought the monuments to life with stories of mythology and daily life in Ancient Greece. She had iPads with a cool program where you could point them at a site and it would show you what it would have looked like at the time. Really helped make sense of what you’re looking at. Our group was very mixed in background knowledge including a toddler, 10 year old, archaeologist, and adults with no background in Ancient Greece. Marilena kept everyone engaged the entire time. (With the exception of the toddler, but that’s to be expected. And she was always understanding when he was distracting or one of us needed to step away from the group. She was great with him and made us feel he was welcome and enjoyed- a trait we’ve found lacking in other tour guides when faced with a strong-willed toddler). I’d strongly recommend her to anyone. Marilena also recommended a couple amazing local restaurants that we wouldn't have known about. She came to dinner with us and helped us chose food and wine. She's such a wealth of local knowledge. We laughed together and learned from her expertise. I feel like I truly made a friend.
