Description

This tour begins with a 1.5hr drive to the whitewashed coastal village of Calella de Palafrugell. We’ll explore this tiny fishing village, and enjoy the beach and boardwalk. We'll then walk along a picturesque path to the village of Llafranc before driving a few kilometres inland to the charming village of Pals, full of stone houses and cobblestone streets, plus it’s home to the 10th-century Church of Sant Pere. You’ll love exploring the quiet streets and taking in the beauty and serenity of this gorgeous village.

The next stop on the tour is Girona, featuring a stunningly beautiful old quarter, an incredible cathedral and the outstanding Arab Baths. It’s full of winding cobblestone streets, pedestrian bridges, colorful riverfront houses and buildings, great shops and charming cafés and restaurants. We’ll take a stroll along the top of the ancient Roman wall that still surrounds part of the city and wander through the peaceful gardens inside the towers at either end. After a great lunch at one of our favorite restaurants and a fascinating 1.5-hour tour of the old quarter, you’ll have some time to enjoy a drink at one of the local cafés before we head back to Barcelona.

Best day of our vacation!

There were 7 of us plus our driver/guide John. We met at the central post office near the Colon monument and were on our way in a modern minivan. Before Girona we stopped at a couple of lovely beachfront towns and did a mini walk. We also stopped at a typical "stone" town where the buildings were built by local rock from a local quarry. They had some lovely shops there. We also saw a burial site of a Visigoth ( the Visigoths were branches of the nomadic tribes of Germanic peoples). Our tour of Girona was wonderful. We stopped at the small Jewish Museum ( at one time there were 6,000 Jewish residents in the city). They had medieval tombstones on display that were from a local cemetery. The highlight though was the awesome cathedral. It was huge and awesome. John, our guide was fantastic. He was friendly, laid back and very knowledgeable. A full day and a very enjoyable with John and Spanish Trails. Would definitely use them again when I return to Barcelona!!

The tour showed a different view of the Spanish coast - more rugged, less touristy. It also showed us a medieval village which was very different to the ones we has seen in southern Spain. Small group concept was great. Fabulous lunch.

Best thing we did in Spain because of the amazing tour guide!
He was the most entertaining, engaging, and delightful guide we have ever had!
Sadly I cannot remember his name but he has of Scottish descent and had a degree in Art History. Me and my wife truly enjoyed the tour and mostly because of our guide's personality, depth of knowledge, and the amazing hospitality exhibited. He is a true asset to your business.
You should give him a raise!
Amazing trip with a wonderful tour guide!

If you're thinking about this tour, just do it!
I'm don't usually do tours -- I'm independent and like to read and find my own way. This experience opened my mind, however. I learned so much about Dalí's life, work, and world from our fascinating guide, Andrew. There's no way the experience would have been remotely as rich or fun if I had gone sola.
On a practical level, it made sense, too. Port Lligat is very quite difficult to reach from Barcelona without a car, and the landscape is beautiful as you drive through the Pyrenes to the coast. The road is quite twisty, though, so you couldn't pay attention to the scenery if you were to drive yourself. Also, the tour included a delicious lunch with wine at a charming restaurant in Cadaqués. It was wonderful to be able to relax while our guide managed all the logistics. Andrew has great rapport with people at all of our stops, so everything went smoothly. It was a very special day.

Great tour
Really great tour. Tour guider is really great, explain the history, culture with funny and vivid way! Would participate to his tour for my next trip to Barcelona!
Witty and articulate guide!
Although the weather was uncooperative, our trip to All Things Dali with Spanish Trails was delightful. Our guide Dan was witty, articulate, amusing and extremely accommodating. Everything went exceedingly smooth with times and meeting areas in Figueres and we were allowed to wander with a good bit of knowledge on Dali's work and what to look for. We then went to Cadaques which included a delightful lunch with superb food and wine before touring Dali's house and garden. Dan kept the group engaged and bonded and truly made the trip wonderful! Contacting the company was easy and communication was pleasant and sincere. My only regret was that we did it at the end of our trip as we learned so much and his enthusiasm for Barcelona was contagious.
