Our guide Martim was very knowledgeable and very personable. As we were four people who booked the tour together, Martim proposed several options for each leg of the tour. The result was a spectacular walk along the side of Montserrat, a great 3 course lunch with wine at a small restaurant (BO2) at the foothills of Montserrat and a private tour with the owner of the Can Descregut vinyard. The result was a very relaxing and memorable day in which we gained a better understanding and appreciation of the Catalan region and the passions of its people.

I would highly recommend this tour. Well worth the price! Thanks Martim!

Situated about an hour west of Barcelona is one of Catalonia’s most magnificent geological anomalies. Montserrat, (Serrated Mountain), is breathtaking, and the views from the monastery are not to be missed.

Once we arrive, we’ll wind our way up to the monastery and basilica. You’ll have the opportunity to explore these unbelievable feats of architecture and the incredible plazas, chapels, sanctuaries and vistas.

We’ll see the famed “Black Virgin”, enjoying a walk through the chapels along the way. We'll then take a scenic walk along the “Monumental Rosary of Montserrat”, which leads to the sacred Santa Cova cave. Before departing, we'll enjoy a short performance by the famous Escolania boys' choir in the basilica.

Taking in all the amazing beauty and majesty of Montserrat builds up quite an appetite, so we'll then stop at one of the local restaurants in a village at the base of the the mountain to enjoy a delicious lunch of traditional Catalan cuisine. After lunch, we'll visit a great little winery in the Penedès region for a brief tour, followed by a private tasting of 3–4 of their fantastic wines and cavas, before heading back to Barcelona.

Great tour
Really great tour. Tour guider is really great, explain the history, culture with funny and vivid way! Would participate to his tour for my next trip to Barcelona!
John our guide and 7 of us set out in the morning for a great day trip from Barcelona. Monserrat is a mountain monastery in a breathtaking, hilltop location. John was very informative and we enjoyed meeting other tourists travellers is the word some prefer these days) who were English speaking. While the Monserrat trip was quite a mountain climb with amazing vistas, the highlights were our lunch down the mountain with great, simple good and free-flowing wine. And then our visit to a winery we doubt will get too many visitors - Pardes is leading edge and its owner will be too busy we think for a while working on his cutting edge, organic wines. What an experience! Thanks John for all your knowledge and driving skills. We would gladly take any trip Spanish Trails offered.
Our guide Charles collected us in Barcelona at 8:30am to begin our day long tour. The day was very relaxed and was one of the best we've had. We began in Monserrat and Charles' knowledge was very impressive, as impressive as the stunning views. For lunch he took us to a small restaurant in Monistrol de Montserrat were we enjoyed a fantastic meal with wine. From there we had a 40 min drive to Albet i Noya, a small family winery. Anna gave us a brilliant and very informative presentation and tour followed by a tasting of three wines. Thanks to Charles the whole day was very enjoyable. I can't recommend Spanish Trails highly enough. Many thanks again Charles
Excellent day at Montserrat. Tour guide was flexible, knowledgable, and personable. Would highly recommend this tour company.
Amazing Tour
Jose Luis was an absolutely amazing tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about the Montserrat mountain and the Penedes Wine region. The mountain is about an hour drive outside of Barcelona and the views are fantastic. It is an all day trip so be prepared for a lot of walking but you get to taste some delicious Cava and wine afterwards.

Best day of our vacation!
We had a most wonderful day with our delightful host. The sites, foods and stories were fantastic. We look forward to visiting again in the future. 😊
If you have any curiosity about or interest in Dali, this is a MUST
Andrew provided us with a wonderful trip into the world of Dali. He clearly knows a great deal about Dali's art and personal life, as well as the context in which Dali did his art. Andrew was also an engaging guide and our tour was never boring. It's clear that he tailors his tour to what we wanted and doesn't just repeat the same script! We also had a most delightful and delicious lunch on our day long trip. The trip is well worth it.
Just loved it!
