Beautiful orthodox monastery

Schitul Darvari

Why locals love it

Built in 1834 by a wealthy family (Darvari), the church was initially a small house of prayer later transformed into a nuns’ convent and subsequently into a monks’ monastery. Closed under the communist rule, it was reopened in 1996.

Why you should visit it

The monastery has a beautiful and quiet garden worth a visit especially in the hot summer days, when you can rest under the shadow of a centuries-old linden tree. It is very close to other attractions, such as "Grădina Icoanei” park.

Special tip

A small relic from the earthly remains of Saint John Chrysostom (“the Golden-Mouthed”) is kept in the church, among other holy relics.
