Description

Bucharest’s river is small, it can’t be navigated, it used to be marshy and, most importantly, it didn’t have a big influence the history of the city. It’s almost like Bucharest has no river at all. We cross it daily, but we don’t pay attention to it.

But, the Dambovita River has a story to tell. It crosses the city from west to east, and tells the story of abandoned neighbourhoods, of the busy inter-war times, of communist building projects, and of how wildlife has reclaimed its place the heart of the city.

This tour is about the geography of Bucharest, about its history, and about the landmarks that guard the river.
