We will start by exploring the gastronomical centre of Chania; the Agora (or the Municipial Market)! There, we will see and get a taste of the basics of Cretan and Mediterranean diet. You will learn about the history and uses of the herbs, spices and other ingredients which are commonly used in the Cretan cuisine. You will see that exploring Crete through a gastronomical lens is rather enlightening!
After a brief tour of the Municipial Market of Chania, we will head towards the old town. Walking through the historic streets of the old town never ceases to amaze me; it feels like travelling in time. Seeing the buildings influenced by various civilizations, standing there in harmony is a magical experience.
Through these streets we will slowly head towards a private yard and start our cooking workshop with chef Pelagia Tsegka followed by a delicious dinner. You will see that there is this amazing harmony in Chania, from the cuisine of the region to its architecture.
