The Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool is a hidden pond surrounded by flowers and plants and beautiful architecture. It's a lovely shady spot to rest and reflect, and it is a popular spot for small wedding ceremonies. Some people (like me) like to include the path around the pond on their running routes. Overall it's a zen, peaceful oasis in the city.
Anyone into landscape architecture or the Prairie school of architecture will appreciate Caldwell's design, and flower and plant lovers will enjoy the flora. It has a long history too - built in 1889, renovated in 1938, and restored in 2002. Visit the pond to escape the heat and crowds of people on a summer day!
The pond closes at dusk. Also, consider mosquito repellant, as it can get a little buggy sometimes.
