Okay, you probably know, in this region of Europe you find lots and lots of hearty, heavy foods featuring a variety of carbs and fat. Well, though cheese fondue might not actually be a German or Munich thing, it's well worth trying. Basically it's a huge puddle of cheese that got melted in wine and in which you dip bread, fruits or vegetables.
Gärtnerplatzalm is just THE place where you want to do the cheese fondue in Munich. The interior of the restaurant is cozy (sometimes even TOO cozy), it's wooden benches and tables all around. The staff is friendly and the food is really good.
Reserve up front (best for 2 more people than actually are coming to be able to breath and not squeeze in) – and try the Haselnussschnaps.
