Why locals love it

If rap artists thought they invented bling bling, they are sorely mistaken. The Treasury, the most breath taking part of one of the biggest city castle complexes in the world, tops it all. Munich is considered to be the wealthiest city in Germany, and in the Residence you can see why.

Why you should visit it

If you enjoy glitz and glamor, this is your stop. Although much of the Residenz was destroyed in World War II, the reproduction is so accurate that you can't always tell what is original and what is rebuilt. You can picture King Ludwig receiving visitors in the elaborate rooms, or wearing the ornate crowns in the Treasury.

Special tip

There are lion statues with a shiny golden nose in front of the castle. Rub one and make a wish, it brings good luck.
