Why locals love it

There are so many tourists that you will spend at least 10 minutes to cross this 515 meters long bridge built in the 14th (!) century. If you are not in hurry, you will definitely enjoy the view on the Prague Castle or the river Vltava. There are many street performers and the atmosphere (if it is not too crowded) is nice.

Why you should visit it

This stone bridge is (if you, again, forget about other tourists) really romantic, although the history of the bridge itself might be slightly frightening. For the reconstruction were used tombs of the proffesors of one cancelled college in Prague (17th century). From the same century come also the most of the statues, except of 3 originals.

Special tip

There is also a statue of vickar Johan from Pomuk showing how he was thrown into the water from the bridge. Touch it for your luck. Not the dog!

Go to the bridge early in the morning before the crowds of tourists come. There are beautiful views of the city. In the evening, The cathedral & Prague castle are light up. It is a very nice.

The bridge is much longer than I expected. I struggled to take photographs of the statues due to tour group leaders whom has no respect for other tourists. Please do not stand in front of the statues while you explain to your group. Take your group slightly out of the way to make space for other people.
