This tour is designed to discover all aspects of life in the Nazi occupied Czechia. I take you for a fascinating tour of changing the democratic republic to the occupation.
Probably each country has its own “big story” that shows the bravery of the nation. For Czechs, it is the story of Anthropoid, all the members of the resistance. There were hundreds of people who were not afraid to resist the Nazis presence and whose bravery helped our country to survive the war.
The main part of the tour is about Reinhard Heydrich, a high-ranking German Nazi and Hitler’s right hand, who became the governor of Czechs in 1941. His arrival to Prague was marked by hundreds of executions and transports of the Jews. Therefore the Czechoslovakian government-in-exile in London prepared a mission to kill him. They called it the “Operation Anthropoid”. Two brave soldiers of the Czechoslovakian army were chosen to execute it. And they really killed him, in late May 1942.
What happened to these brave paratroopers, to Nazis, to Praguers and what price the Czechs had to pay? Join me on the tour to find out!
The tour takes you to the streets of Old Town and New Town.
