Hidden in a small wooden building on a lonely street, one can only wonder how people have found this place but all the occupied tables and sofas confirm that locals love it. Perhaps the fact that Aleponija is run by musician Juris Simanovičs, leader of Latvian indie-rock band Bērnības Milicija, explains the special artistic atmosphere here.

Why you should visit it
As soon as you enter the bar, you get the feeling that you have discovered something new that nobody knows of. All the walls are made of reclaimed wood planks and the old sofas and floor lamps make this place warm&cosy. Moreover, they have their own resident cat, Bruto, that’s the first thing you’ll notice when searching Aleponija on Instagram!
Special tip
They have a wide choice of Latvian beer (in bottles), especially from Malduguns microbrewery. They host regular concerts and poetry readings.
