Rated as one of most important museums in the Baltics, it strives to tell an honest and true story of Latvia's occupations by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union during and after World War II. It is a must see for locals and visitors a like.

Why you should visit it

It has a magnificent collection of pictures, models, newspapers, posters, weapons etc. If you want to get to grips with what took place here during the occupation then this is a museum you cannot afford to miss. Take your time and be prepared for a lesson in 20th century history.

This was worth every minute. I married into a Latvian family in the US. The stories from survivors was my favorite. The need for power by many is striking, here it was Soviet, Nazi, Soviet again, yet the will of those occupied is so much more powerful. Highly recommended

It was very interesting. I made the mistake of taking my children though. It is not very interactive so best for the adults only.
