Gaismas Pils (/The Palace of Light/ in Latvian) is the new architectural wonder of Riga, which is creating the new panorama of Riga's Pardaugava. The building was built solely for Latvian National Library in order to have all notable literature works in one place, which previously was dispersed in many parts of Riga.

Why you should visit it

First of all, this is a huge library and here you can find many many unique books and other sources of texts, like all newspapers of Baltic Region issued through the century. Secondary, here you can see the great view towards Riga Old Town and Tornakalns area.

Special tip

Take a short ten minute long walk from Riga Old Town over Akmens Tilts (Stone Bridge) and you are here.
