Having followed the Art Nouveau tour on the first day, the Soviet tour was the perfect thing to do on the second as it is made us discover a complementary part of the city. It was great we could do both with James who made the story full: he gave us good historical context and did not forget to include a handful of funny anecdotes.
Again, he did not only deliver historical facts but used a blend of cultural references and observations as well as made us discover some hidden places.

Description

Latvia, just like the other Baltic countries, was occupied by the Soviets after WWII and was part of the Soviet Union for over 45 years. The country changed a lot during this period: architecture, demographics, farming methods, art and culture were all influenced by the new political climate.

Our three-hour Soviet Riga Walking Tour gives you the chance to trace these changes and discover the Riga that was built during the occupation. We aim to leave personal opinions and politics aside so you get an honest, unbiased account based on historical research and facts.

We can pick you up from your hotel, or you can meet us at our office – just let us know your preference when booking.

Excellent, knowledgeable & thorough tour of Riga's Soviet past
An outstanding tour of the parts of Riga where Soviet history comes alive. My guide was professional and personal-able. Highly recommended.
Very interesting.

A very pleasant and informative walk throughout a less known part of this great city.
