Tour by Krista

Hi everyone,

You can learn more about me once you meet me :) But to give you an idea of what to expect of my tours - I lived in UK for 5 years and in Crete for half a year, which was a great time and I would not change it to anything. But this also is why I am so passionate about my city - Riga! Since I came back, I have fallen in love with it all over again! :)

I've done Riga guides course which gives me official license to work here as an official guide, however I believe that not official school is what makes the guide great, but his passion and friendliness is! Am I right?

But I have to tell you now - I am not the guide which will give you facts and numbers only. I prefer to go easy -
go with the flow as they say - and tell more funny stories, interesting things which will stick to your mind even after you've left Riga. If you prefer dry facts and numbers, I am not the one for you! :)

Flexible tour is what I offer. We can customize everything. I have a car which seats up to 6 passengers, which gives us also a chance to drive around Riga and not only. But options are as many as ideas! If you fancy a trip together with a cheerful local, drop me a message and we will go from there!

I look forward to welcoming you in Riga!

Would you like to experience the beautiful moment when nature wakes up? This is definitely one of the best tours if you're a nature lover! You might feel sleepy at the start, but after a cup of coffee/tea, once you will be out there in the crisp morning air you will feel more awake than on any other day!
Kemeri National park is the third-largest national park in Latvia - combining different protected areas (lakes, bogs, forests). Kemeri Great Bog is the fifth largest bog in-country and definitely one of the most popular for visitors due to its accessibility.
You will be picked up from your accommodation ~1,5 hours before sunrise time. I'll take care of coffee/tea for you and also some fresh pastries so you can have that perfect start of the day!
Let's chase the sunrise! Whether it is a sunny day or clouds are covering the sky - it will be beautiful. I promise!
After the bog, we'll go on a drive-through tour of the city of Jurmala. You'd see the stunning architecture and get a chance to step on the beach and dip your toes in the water! We'll also drive through Kemeri historical resort and get a chance to claim up the Dzintari forest park viewing tower!

An Intimate Knowledge of the Kemeri Bog
for Krista’s tour (Sunrise at Kemeri National Park)
It's not possible to experience the bog at dawn at Kemeri National Park by yourself, at least in late August. The sun comes up too early and the train arrives too late. Head out with Krista and you can time your arrival so you're already snapping pics in the first brightness, when the mist is still thick and the silence impenetrable.

Krista and I had the entire bog to ourselves at such an early hour. It was terrific to travel in such comfort, with Krista picking me up in her car and a stop for a light breakfast.

Krista's enthusiasm and respect for the bog and her experience in knowing it so intimately are impressive. She obviously enjoys sharing such a magical part of her country, expanding the tour to include a walk through the tall reeds, with stops at Soviet sanatoriums and the magnificent Dubulti station.

With deep appreciation to Krista for her generosity and ensuring such fine memories of Latvia's natural wonders.
The best tour from my time in Latvia
for Krista’s tour (Sunrise at Kemeri National Park)
If you are looking for a break from the city and a chance to see the real side of Latvia I would highly recommend this tour. Krista is a gem with abundant knowledge of the local area, very friendly and passionate about her job.

The national park is beautiful with great opportunities for photos of the local wildlife and extended views of the whole park. The tour is relaxed and Krista is flexible with time and changed days for me so we could go when it wasn't raining. ( Very thankful )

All in all, definitely worth your time if you're visiting Riga on your travels
Amazing views!
for Krista’s tour (Sunrise at Kemeri National Park)
Fantastic tour, picked up right from our home to Kemeri. Krista is such a happy, fun guide - we both had a blast. Unbelievable to see the park at sunrise - the early wake up is worth it!

Highly recommended
for Krista
Krista was extremely knowledgable, enthusiastic and charming, her English was excellent having lived in the UK for some time and I would have no hesitation in recommending her to future travellers. Incidentally she provided a very comfortable car for our guided tour. It was a super day, thank you Krista.
Amazing Hill of Crosses at Sunrise
I cannot recommend this tour enough, firstly Krista was amazing with assisting to arrange this tour at very shorty notice. Although she was not able to take me she did arrange with a colleague to do the tour so I could still go on my chosen day which was very much appreciated. She was great in making sure all the details were arranged with me and was very quick at responding.
The tour does start early but I was picked up on time by Janis, who was nice and friendly and made sure I was ok throughout the 2 hour journey there. Our arrival was well in time for sunrise so Janis was able to give a bit of history about the place and took some photos for me at sunrise with being a solo traveller. I was given plenty of time to explore on my own and was never made to feel rushed to leave.
This place is amazing! It has to be seen in person to truely appreciate it and going for sunrise meant on that day I was the only person there which was incredible.
If you are considering this tour I would say definitely do it and book with Krista you won't be disappointed.
