MAXXI

Why locals love it

When MAXXI opened in 2010, Rome’s youth was renewed. Before this time the city had no contemporary buildings or museums. This is a place where you can visit contemporary art and architecture exhibitions as well as other hyped events.

Why you should visit it

This is one of architect Zaha Hadid’s best works. Huge spaces, curving walls and intersecting levels give it a rich spatial and functional configuration where visitors can pass through different and unexpected routes. MAXXI Architettura was the first national museum of architecture to be established in Italy.

Special tip

MAXXI stands for “Museum Art XXI”.
