Why locals love it

This park has gorgeous views of Puget Sound and the Olympic mountain range. It's a favorite spot for locals and it can get pretty crowded on sunny summer weekends, but on weeknights (especially in winter), it's virtually empty and you can have most of the beach to yourself.

Why you should visit it

There are bonfire pits at the southern end of the beach which provide a great, relaxing way to spend an evening. Be sure to get there well before sunset to secure one! If you're up for something more active, kayak rentals are available through Ballard Kayak from May to September. Their kiosk is just south of the bathhouse on the beach.

Special tip

Keep an eye out for wildlife! There are turtles, ducks, and even bald eagles that like to hang out in the wetlands at the northern end of the park.

Very nice for water views, especially sunsets. I don't know if it's still possible, but at one time you could walk via trails up to Richmond Beach Saltwater Park.

Golden Gardens Park is a waterfront park located in Ballard on Puget Sound. This place offers breathtaking views of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. Nowadays park is really beautiful. Two wetlands as well as the northern beach area in the park have been recently restored, new trails have been established. The park looks very pretty and inviting. Golden Gardens opens perfect possibilities for family recreation, everyone will find something to enjoy here: hikes through the forest, strolls along the coastline, fishing from a pier, sunbathing, baseball, play area for kids, and a boat launch.Dog owners also adore this park because here there is a very nice off-leash area. It is situated in the upper northern part of the park. Dogs enjoy their freedom here is a full sense of this word. Of course, owners take a look on them, but it’s totally “dogs’ place”.

As perfect on a cold clear day in winter to catch a glimpse of those Olympic mountains as it is on the summer solstice for a bonfire!
