Haaparanda's churches exterior is made of copper, which has become almost black due to the climate. The white décor creates a contrast between the dark exterior. The old wooden church on the site burned down in the 1960s, and Bengt Larsson, an architect from Lulea, designed a modern church with no paintings on its walls.
The church has recorded guides in Finnish, Swedish, English and German. Open every day on Summer from 9am to 7pm. Untill 14th of August
