The Accademia of Belle Arti was founded in 1750 by the painter Giovanni Battista Piazzetta and the collection of paintings preserves in its rooms provides a complete spectrum of the Venetian school, from the medieval Byzantine period through the Renaissance to the Baroque and later.

Along its collection you can find paintings by Paolo Veneziano, Michele Giambono, Giovanni Bellini, Paolo Veronese, Tintoretto, Bernardo Strozzi, Giambattista Tiepolo, Canaletto and so on. Now moreover it represents a fervent art school and university in Venice.
