The courtyards of Vilnius – they're the reason I love this city so much! This one would have to be one of my favourites because of its views, architecture and history.

Why you should visit it
Want to see what the president is up to? Though tricky to find, this courtyard opens up to a view of the rear of the Presidential Palace. Simply cross the courtyard of the Italian community centre (yet another amazing courtyard) to find it.
Special tip
Here you'll also find a strange elephant statue holding a chessboard. You can play chess here but you'll have to bring your own pieces.
