A soviet wedding place with uncanny past

Why locals love it

This strange looking Soviet style building was erected here in early 70's. All of our parents and friends got married here. So while the building might look quite ugly for nowadays taste the dull walls are full of personal bright memories. That's why we even got a nickname "Zaksas" for this place.

Why you should visit it

The thing is that it was Lutheran cemetery in the 19th century and the main chapel was in the place of Zaksas. Pay attention to the park area, the original paths are still there. You can also see an old family mausoleum in between trees - the only reminder of gruesome Soviet politics.

Special tip

If you go up to the Tauras hill from Pamėnkalnio street keep in mind that those stairs were made from Jewish thombstones up until 1994.
